Let me assure you that JIMS conducted a thorough research before it eventually decided to adopt the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The Vision and Mission Statement of JIMS matches nicely with the Mission Statement of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). By using the IB curriculum, JIMS is in a much better position to pursue its motto ‘Advancing Creativity and Excellence’ through the development of the whole
child: body, mind and spirit. The IB curriculum will allow the students of JIMS not only to excel in maths, science and computing but also to be well versed in languages, art, drama, music and sport. In considering the whole child, no area is more important than any other.
Our motto ‘Advancing Creativity and Excellence’ does not apply only to the children, but also to the teachers. Other than encouraging students to be active learners, the IBO system also provides regular capacity building for the teachers. JIMS does not just recruit the best teachers, but also provides them with capacity building to make them even better.
JIMS is located in the International Sports Club of Indonesia (ISCI). I am happy to inform you that we are currently developing a school building for JIMS on a one hectare plot of land that is located in the vicinity of Situgintung Lake, not far from ISCI. We are in the process of complementing the IB curriculum with adequate building facilities to accommodate the growing number of students. The environment has been, and will always be, an integral part of JIMS. The new JIMS will be located in a very attractive landscape set among tall trees. JIMS will involve the students and parents to make the environment even greener.
Last but not least, the newly founded Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will allow all of us - parents, teachers and Board members - to work together in a warm, cosy and friendly environment to keep improving JIMS’ facilities. Part of that progress this year is the opening of JIMS’ Secondary School. At JIMS, the next year is always more exciting than the previous one.
