The JIMS Resource Centre houses some 3500 books, plus a large collection of audio-visual equipment, newspapers, magazines and journals. The Resource Centre is open daily from Monday to Thursday, from 8am to 4pm, and Fridays from 8am to 3pm.
Students should respect the rights of others who want to work quietly in the Resource Centre. Therefore, everyone should be quiet and whisper if they talk. Mobile phones must be switched off.
Please take care of the books. Food or drink are not allowed in the Resource Centre to avoid any spillage and dirt.
The Resource Centre will not be held responsible for the loss of any personal belongings.
Incidental class visits or library visits for groups of students should be arranged in advance with the Librarian to avoid a scheduling conflict with other classes or creating over-capacity in the Resource Centre.
Parents
Our Library plays a significant role in your child’s education, but we need your help. The Resource Centre is not just a place to borrow books, it also provides training in information-gathering skills, supports the curriculum and maintains audio-visual equipment and materials.
We are always in need of help in the following areas:
Special Events - Help plan, promote and staff book fairs and other events that might arise during the school year.
Special Projects - Material repairs, book borrowing and returning, book sorting and shelving, updating bulletin boards, copying, volunteer coordinating.
What’s in it for you? You’ll be working in a pleasant setting with the people who are educating your children. By giving of your time and talents, you will enhance the achievements of JIMS students and provide a positive role model for them. You will also be rewarded with that great feeling that comes from knowing you are making a difference in your school and community.
